Authentic Reviews of Hotels in Augusta, GA Featuring Hot Tubs
When in Aiken, don’t even bother with the chain hotels, just go stay with Melinda, I promise, you won’t be sorry. The scenery and decor are breathtaking, but the home feel, comfort, and hospitality are bar none. I stayed at Birdnest with my daughter in the Mockingbird Suite and couldn’t have been more pleased. Melinda thought of everything. We had great WiFi, strong water pressure, hot shower, and even little snacks waiting for us. You know you had a good stay when you want to come back just to visit and stay here.
I had the most wonderful 2 week stay at The Birdnest Inn. I was in Aiken for a horse show at Bruce’s Field. Location was ever so convenient, but the best features were the stellar environment at Birdnest. Melinda was the best hostess, bar none. The housekeeping part of my stay was nothing less than fabulous. My room was cleaned daily, and bed changed every 3 days with lovely linens. Breakfast was a true delight. And coffee was made early and perfect. I hope to return to Aiken and spend more time at the Birdnest Inn. I should also mention that I had my 2 small dogs with me, and what a privilege to have quiet and beautiful grounds to walk them around. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We stayed here for 3 nights and luckily got whole inn to ourselves as there were no other guests those nights . The breakfast Melinda makes are amazing, best ones are scrambled eggs and my least favorite was French toast. The decor and tranquility of the place is unmatched. The WiFi in the room upstairs wasn’t that strong but I used hall and dinning area and it was strong enough in there. Also , hot water in the sink was on and off but she was generous to let us use another bathroom in a different room. Only because of these two improvements, I may say it is a 4.5 rating but I am rating 5 because she did everything possible to fix what little was wrong. I recommend the place if you want to feel like home and not like in a hotel
We LOVE The Birdnest Inn! We’ve stayed there four times so far and would never consider staying anywhere else when we visit Aiken. Melinda is the consummate host – from the freshly baked cookies upon arrival to our perfectly appointed room to the delicious breakfasts featuring vegetables from her garden. In the warmer months, we look forward to taking an afternoon dip in the pool and then enjoying a glass of wine with Melinda before we head out for the evening. The Birdnest Inn is truly a magical place!
Melinda is such a wonderful host! Breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious! The property is beautiful with plenty of outdoor space. Off the beaten path, the location offers peace and quiet, but is just a short drive from all the amenities downtown Aiken has to offer. The rooms are wonderful, beds comfortable, and decor is tastefully curated. Prices are better than the local chain hotel. I look forward to visiting again!
April 2022-three memorable nights in the Hummingbird room with a view of the gazebo, gardens and pool. Gave this charming and wonderfully cozy inn 5 stars and would double that for its artistic founder and host Melinda. The rooms are spacious – each uniquely decorated and comfortable. The shared areas as well as lovingly cared for grounds (pool, gazebo, gardens) are inviting and relaxing. Start your day with the Inn’s garden veggies/fruit and jams breakfast and fresh-brewed morning coffee to be followed by Melinda’s fresh baked cookies! Close to downtown Aiken yet private enough to enable a quiet restful stay. Be sure to check out the very spacious open room adjacent to the foyer entrance. The collection and diverse array of pottery, art and crafts are sure to please and inspire. Will definitely be back and enthusiastically recommend!
Melinda is amazing. There are not enough stars to rate how wonderful Birds Nest Inn is. The atmosphere is relaxing. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and relaxing with all the amenities. The beds are so comfortable. This is a place you can come to relax and near leave the Inn. There is a pool. Breakfast was so delicious. Loves sitting out in the gazebo. So close to downtown. Melinda is such a great host. So wonderful to get to know her. This is a place we will be coming back. to.
Room was clean, but shower head was falling out of the wall. Breakfast was good, but hard to enjoy when the employees are yelling at each other at the front desk.
UPDATE: After writing the review, the hotel made good on the issues with my room. I was in the wrong for not bringing it to their attention to begin with, but I tend to avoid verbally addressing my concerns because I’m an introvert and go with the “I’ll just deal with it” mentality. Also just a day or two after I wrote the review, they DID have pork sausage links, so that was nice to see as well. So, I’m upgrading my stars to 5 since the manager/owner was so friendly in speaking to me about it and also making good on getting things taken care of in my room. Some things were not mentioned in my initial review, but they took care of those as well.
The location of the hotel is perfect, and the exterior grounds and interior hallways were clean and well-kept. The breakfast is mediocre. The only hot items to choose from is an egg product, a meat product, and sometimes biscuits and gravy or french toast. I stayed for 20 nights and never saw pork sausage links or patties, the only sausage was the polska keilbasa style sliced. The egg was either little pre-made omelets or scrambled eggs, no boiled eggs as an option.
As for my room, it was on the first floor which I prefer and had the whirlpool tub. The whirlpool tub was wonderfully large in size for my 6’4″, however only two of the 7 jets were working, so that was a bummer. The bed was comfortable enough, but did have noticeable sag and wear from where a couple would be sleeping. I slept in the middle to get the least saggy part with some firmness to it which I prefer.
I have two complaints though. First, when it rains, my window leaks pretty heavily and I had to put a trash can in the spot to catch the dripping. Secondly, which annoyed me the most, was the lack of high-speed internet, even though they claim they have it. I am an IT expert and I tried all possible ways to bypass any hotel or ISP based throttling, but they have it hard locked to maximum 3mbps. It doesn’t matter if you connect via wifi, ethernet, or at the business center, that is the max speed you’ll be allowed. Not enough for any HD streaming or downloading of any larger sized files. So, keep that in mind. If you are only checking emails or browsing the web without video’s, you’d be fine.
This place is a dump! Clearly the reviews on this site have been manipulated by owners and friends. Thankfully you can file a complaint with Choice headquarters with regards to violations of their Charter. This place is so substandard for a choice hotel. Refrigerators and rooms that don’t work. The smell. The pictures on the app do not match what the rooms look like.. the owners could care less as long as they’re getting their money and that’s fine but as a government contractor that’s why I will make sure they feel the fury and might of an audit and investigation into their own Charter as this place should not be a part of Choice Hotels.
I checked in late, roughly 11pm (booked online at 8:30 while driving). I was exhausted from driving all day. Original key did not work to open the door, back to the front desk for another key. I immediately went to sleep as I had to get back on the road early. When I wake up to take a shower their is no shower curtain. I go to the phone to see about bringing one up and the phone does not work. Out of frustration I just grabbed my stuff and left. When I stopped at the front desk on the way out I was told ” their is no manager here and they will call you later today”. That was 3 days ago. I was only there for a few hours so i can not sat anything about the rest of the hotel.
