We stayed for two nights here and couldn’t of enjoyed it more.
Stunning building!
Beautiful rooms, very clean, great facilities.
The food was amazing and the staff were so helpful and polite!

Great hotel for a 3 star. Was clearly more luxury in its time but a touch too tired round the edges to be more than 3 stars now.
Tons of character, with moody corridors and dimmed lighting.
Not a business hotel, but great for a cheap romantic weekend away. Absolute bargain.
It’s a little out of the way, but with the abundance of Ubers and taxis, this wasn’t a problem for us.

Really exquisitely beautiful rooms and public areas.. However as the property is not yet centrally heated..Make sure to ask for your oil filled radiator to be plugged before your stay in the Winter months..this makes the rooms lovely and warm..The lights in the newly refurbished restaurant need to be changed to a warm white so that the food looks more appealing and to create a less barn like atmosphere. Perhaps little Led warm white lamps on the tables ?? The staff were all lovely and very helpful.

Not a good experience here. The hotel had no hot water and failed to partially refund me for this even though they said they would.
As others have said the cleaning is poor – I had drain flies around the shower area in my room. There are better, similarly priced options in the area.

Could be so much better. Stunning historic building which has been maintained within communal areas such as reception, hallways and staircase. Yet, rooms have not been sympathetically decorated and done on the cheap. Bed comfy and clean, towels soft and fresh. No USB charger points, no tea bags, air con not working, in room stand alone fab broken, mold on grout around bathroom area, stains on furniture, room safe didn’t work and wardrobe door would not close. At only £20 a night cheaper than hotels which have much better quality bedrooms i didn’t feel it was value for money. If you just want a bed for the night, a 5 minute walk from Cardiff Bay and all its restaurants and night life, it’s ideal. If you want a romantic night away, go to St David’s

Great building and incredible facilities. It is an old grand hotel that has been very renovated but needs a new up-grade to remain top of the line. We stayed in a triple room with two bedrooms and a bathroom that was really very comfortable for the three of us. A beautifully designed bathroom with a large Jacuzzi and an excellent shower. The breakfast location is at Culley’s Bar (great design and architecture) which is inside the hotel and was really excellent in variety and quality.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Very nice comfortable rooms and easy walking distance to a few pubs and restaurants in Ambleside. Staff are really helpful and courteous so would definitely recommend and return

Absolutely Stunning location in the heart of Ambleside, room was outstanding we stayed in loft 3 for 2 nights had our own steam and sauna inside and a Huge indoor hot hub/bath for 2, breakfast was beautiful and staff were amazing always happy to help, definitely will be back thank you Manuel a pleasure to meet you and all the staff

You will go a long way these days to find a hotel where everything is perfect. From first class service, comfortable well appointed bedroom and a proper traditional restaurant serving excellent food. I am fussy and I could not fault this hotel and will be returning very soon.

Stayed here many times over the last five years, best hotel in Ambleside.
Location is fantastic, staff always friendly and the rooms are a great standard with lots of little luxuries aswell as home comforts.
The spa is also very good and an excellent way to spend an hour or so, definitely check it out. Food consistently great quality.
Not the cheapest in Ambleside but spend the little extra as its very much worth it.

My Aunt and I loved our stay here! Great room, friendly and helpful staff, very cute hotel, great location in the Lake District (the only difficulty was parking but we made it work). Would definitely stay again!

Highly recommended!
The location of the hotel is right in the middle of Ambleside so shops, restaurants etc are on the doorstep.
The hotel itself is clean with excellent facilities, the spa is amazing! The thing that really sets this hotel apart from many others is the staff, they are so friendly, helpful and really make the stay enjoyable. We will definitely be returning and would definitely recommend this hotel.

We’ve just returned home from the most wonderful stay at The Ambleside Salutation and Spa hotel. During the stay, my partner proposed to me and the hotel staff did their utmost to make our stay extra special. The hotel is in a perfect location and is beautiful inside with a fine attention to detail.
Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional and warm. We’d like to particularly shout out Manuel was so gregarious and brightened up our breakfast each day!
The food was outstanding and very high quality. The whole experience felt more five star than four. I loved this hotel and will definitely be returning with my fiancé

What a wonderful experience, stayed for 2 nights, in room 101, we had a room with a balcony and a lovely view of the little town of Ambleside. The room was immaculate and clean, the shower was brilliant and the whirlpool bath.

The breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. The pool, spa were also brilliant!!!!

The staff were 1st class, very polite and helpful they’re a credit to the hotel owner and that made our stay extra special.

Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful couple of nights, we will definitely return in the future.
