I was quite surprised to find this hotel as part of the Hilton collection, as it did not meet the standards I expected. The hotel is significantly overpriced for what it offers. When I inquired at the front desk about the possibility of extending my checkout time to 3 p.m. on a quiet Sunday, I was informed that it would not be possible unless I paid an additional $160 for another full night’s stay. The desk clerk consulted the manager, who upheld this policy without flexibility, which I found disappointing.

On a positive note, the location is excellent, situated in the heart of Old Town, making it within walking distance of many attractions. Additionally, the hotel features a Starbucks and a bar in the lobby, which are convenient amenities. However, the rooms are outdated, and I found several cleanliness issues that raised concerns, such as stained glass on the nightstand tables and stains on the recliner leg rest. These details suggest that the housekeeping standards could be improved.

Overall, this hotel did not meet my expectations, and I would hesitate to recommend it, especially considering the price point.

This hotel was awesome! If you have bad allergies, I highly suggest the Pure Wellness rooms! The air quality in my room was significantly better, and it made a huge difference.

The staff was welcoming and attentive, ensuring my stay was pleasant from the moment I arrived. The room was clean, spacious, and stylish, providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

The location was ideal, with many dining options nearby. I dined at the hotel’s restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal, with excellent service.

Overall, my experience at the Hilton Alexandria was fantastic. The Pure Wellness room was a standout feature for anyone with allergies or simply wanting a healthier stay. I look forward to coming back!

This was a really nice hotel in a great vicinity. Local buses and trains just a few feet away. The front desk staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel has a Starbucks in the lobby, a restaurant and bar. There is also convenient snacks and beverages for purchase near the front desk. The price of my room was actually a decent price for two nights. The room was also a good size for two people. The only cons were my room did not have a good view, but I was on the third floor and the tub was stained and had a slow drain.

The hotel is located in a good area with many restaurants around. My room was big and everything was clean and well maintained. There’s a Starbucks in the hotel so I found that very convenient.

UPDATE: Hotel staff acknowledged the issues below and provided additional points as a remedy. Thank you.

This hotel has a great location in Old Town Alexandria right off the metro and a short walk to all Old Town goodies and nightlife. That said, having enjoyed prior stays over the past years, I had a fairly negative experience this stay and wanted to note a few items to consider:

(1) The rooms are still ok but tired and are due for a refresh. My room on the second floor appeared generally clean but later in the evening I found a fairly large roach on the bathroom floor. Yuck!

(2) The fire alarm went nuts around 5:30 AM in the hotel and was still blasting with red lights more than a half hour later. Apparently it was a false alarm but hotel staff couldn’t deactivate the alarm.

(3) The gym had several pieces of broken or barely working equipment. As an example, there are two life fitness elliptical. One was not working at all and the other’s track was so damaged or warped that it was not usable. Again, it’s just another example that certain aspects of the hotel are tired and need a refresh.

The Starbucks in the hotel is convenient. $36 overnight parking is pretty hefty but it’s a hotel. All in all, this is a once pretty terrific property that needs a good renovation and revitalization by Hilton.

My stay was spoiled when housekeeping disposed of a bag they assumed was trash. The bag was a paper shopping bag and contained snacks, magazines and Christmas CDs that were part of our collection for many years among other things I can’t recall. It clearly was not trash. One of the snack bags was half full and closed with a bag clip. If there was any doubt about the contents it should have been left in the room. The front desk was informed and apologized but I am waiting for a more complete response and resolution. This incident ruined an otherwise pleasant experience.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a long weekend stay to the DC area. This hotel fit our needs perfectly. The location is great with the South King Street Metro Station directly across the street. The surrounding area is wonderful with plenty of restaurants and a whole foods within short walking distance. We enjoyed a night at the hotel bar with great service. The room was large, clean and peaceful. My wife loved the large towels. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The front desk staff were very helpful and accommodating providing suggestions for getting around using the Metro. Highly recommend.

This is a great location if you’re staying in DC area for business. Immediately next to King Street metro, and easy to get out of DC to northern Virgina. Old Town Alexandria has many restaurants and pubs that are walkable from the hotel. I only have two minor complaints that prevent me from giving this hotel a 5 star review: no coffee maker in the room and there is only a buffet for breakfast. The buffet is good, but I prefer made to order breakfast. Neither of these will prevent me from staying here again, and I would rate the hotel and it’s convenience 5 stars in every other way.

Very nice and pretty hotel in a great location. Rooms were clean and the bathrooms are upgraded nicely with large showers. There is a lively bar and restaurant as well as a Starbucks conveniently located in the lobby, so it was nice to not have to venture out so early for that. There are a lot of restaurants and a Whole Foods a short walk away,. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit the area.

Loved the location. Perfect walk to the metro and bus stops. Great restaurant/in room dining – food was delicious. Quiet hotel even though it’s by the metro – slept very peacefully. Starbucks in the lobby for coffee if you don’t want the in room coffee. Fast and friendly service. Has a small store as well to buy snacks, drinks, etc.

The ambiance of the lobby and the bar and Starbucks is really fantastic. The location is also great. However, I did not have a good experience at this hotel. The rooms really need some additional noise isolation. There was a loud room across from mine that kept me up until around midnight. It was as if they were in my room with me. I couldn’t believe how loud it was. It reminded me of being in college again living in a dormitory. They were finally quieted after two calls to the concierge desk. However, they awoke me again at around 8am the next day. Suffice it to say I had very little sleep at this hotel. It’s a shame that such a lovely historic hotel in such a great location would have such poor noise isolation between rooms. If I wasn’t in town for business purposes this hotel would have been a better fit for me. However, that was not the case and this hotel was a mistake for me to stay at. A great disappointment. 2/5.

Such a nice walk at night. Friendly people and soothing atmosphere. Charming cobblestone sidewalks outside. Festively lit, warm and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. The shower has a step on it if you need to prop your leg up or the Mrs needs to shave. The sink handles were classy. The beds are very comfortable and have multiple pillows. The room we had came with a table, chair and dresser. We stayed 3 days so we got to experience a lot of the staff, parking and lobby. There is a banquet hall downstairs for events, a restaurant, bar and concessions area. If you want cookies or snacks. We ordered in and forgot silverware multiple times and the wait staff always offered us silverware when we asked with pleasure.

The location is only 5 miles from DC and easy to find.It is decorated beautifully. There was an opportunity to take a photo around every corner. The staff and management were very responsive to my requests. They delivered personal service and cared about my satisfaction. The bed was comfortable. There were two robes in the room that were also cozy. Neat shops, restaurants, and a major grocery store are within steps. I just really enjoyed everything about AKA. Oh, there is a movie theater room too. I didn’t have time to take advantage of it, but will next time.

Went to this location for conference and the rooms were absolutely stunning love the Nespresso coffee maker in the room. On the second day found out that my shower was not working went to the front desk they got me a room that I could absolutely shower in while they worked on getting mine fixed which was my choice. Fix the shower in the room and even left me a nice thank you note apologizing for everything that happened. Definitely looking forward to staying here again

I stayed for about a week here last month and I want to be brief but thorough. I frequent the AKA White House and I love that location so when I saw there was a location in Alexandria, I decided to try it out. Please be known that this location is much smaller than the AKA White House. I accidentally booked a room that was more like a general hotel room than the apartment style rooms that AKA White House is known for.

I immediately was switched to a bigger room when I noticed my mistake which leads me to talk about the customer service. The customer service at the front desk was EXCELLENT and honestly the only good thing about this location. They were attentive, accommodating, and apologetic when things went awry. While I do not recommend staying here, the employees at this location were more than amazing.

My issues with this hotel:

Maintenance: I had an issue with the shower in my first room and the “engineer” didn’t show up until the morning. The “engineer” tried to fix the issue but I took a shower again that night and the issue remained so I ended up moving to another room. In this room, there was a dead bug on the floor so I had to wait again for the “engineer” to come and clean it up.

Location: While, yes, this hotel is located near Old Town Alexandria, it’s a bit far from all of the restaurants and shops. There’s a Harris Teeter, a coffee shop, and one restaurant in immediate walking distance but you’d have to walk a bit far for everything else. This isn’t a huge deal generally but for the price, I would recommend staying closer to everything than this hotel.

Parking Valet: The cost to park was $44/night which is a lot. Also, this may be petty but I could not stand them opening my door every time I pulled up, as soon as I pulled up. I didn’t have time to gather my things before they’d come and pull open my door and then just stand there.

Rooms: I feel like, while cute and modern, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The lighting is abysmal and it’s usually extremely dark in the room. They have overhead showers so if that’s your thing then you’d love it but I cannot stand overhead showers. There are no microwaves and the refrigerators are small.

This hotel is the worst hotel I experienced in my life! The first day they checked me in 3 pm and they put me in the wrong room, of course I didnt know that until the person who was supposed to have my room walked in on me while I was napping on my bed !!! I freaked out and she said Im sorry they gave me this room!!! And immediately I went to the reception to see whats going on and they upgraded me to another room and apologized.
Second day, I went out the hotel at 9 am in the morning came back at 3 pm and the room was not cleaned yet!!!! I called saying when is ur room service is supposed to happen and the guy told me I will send them now “DO YOU WANT TO BED TO BE MADE?” In my head what type of question is this! Of course I want to the whole room to be properly made!!! They came and cleaned to the room in 5 mins! Literally 5 mins so between 9 am to 3 pm they didnt have 5 mins to clean it!!!
Third day, i get a charge on my card for 33 usd that I didnt use and went to the reception and they say no records nothing is in here and until now I did not get clarification on the charges, Im being charged for nothing, I had to tell me plz clean my room before I come back and the struggle is real! What about tomorrow ? I really cannot believe the level of service they have!

Update After Checkout:

Though I stand by my various areas for improvement, I’m updating my review from 2-stars to 4 for a few reasons:

1) our stay improved after that first day, including having the internet working flawlessly the last two days of our stay.

2) our room, and the hotel overall, were actually very nice (though the lack of attention to the various details I highlight below still were surprising for a property of this quality).

3) the front desk manager Adam went out of his way to make up for the various issues we were having and ensured our stay improved after those first 36 hours. His responsiveness to our concerns made a big difference.

Original review: This supposed 4-star property isn’t yet ready for prime time. I’m staying here now and we’ve had a terrible experience, despite staying in one of the nicest rooms available (a one bedroom suite on the top floor).

Where to begin…perhaps with the internet that has maybe worked 2 hours out of our 36 here so far. Or how about the bait-and-switch “Autumn special” that included breakfast when we booked, but failed to mention that the restaurant isn’t yet open for breakfast so what’s included is coffee and a croissant at the coffee shop off the lobby. Add that to the terrible tv interface in the rooms that claims to allow casting from your favorite streaming service but doesn’t work, no towels or cups for water in the gym, no place to get ice or fill water bottles on the floor, only one towel hook in our enormous bathroom, meaning one of us has to leave our wet towel draped over a chair in the room, etc., and you get a hotel that looks nice, but fails at so many important details that makes a good hotel stay. Oh, and the hotel is far away from the sites and action in Alexandria. Won’t be staying here again and will be asking for a refund for our special “breakfast” package so we can use that money on a real breakfast elsewhere.

What a blissful time we had during our stay! Pedro and Anastasia welcomed us with such good vibes ?Eskedar was a delight! We will certainly stay here again.

I’m going to give this place 5 stars, but just know. For the price, I feel as though there could have been a lot more offered. The product of a hotel is a bed and a roof over the head, yet for this price, I would’ve expected more automation. More voice controlled settings. I understand, this is a very 1st world complaint but this is 2023. My advice is to put Alexa into these rooms if we sign a waiver. “Hey Alexa, turn off the Lights”

“Hey Alexa open the blinds”

“Hey Alexa, play some Jazz”

Aka. Pick it up. For this price I would like to see a little more “Chop-Chop”

Very cool decor and lighting. Very clean. Rooms are very modern.
Would definitely stay here again.
My only thing to note is the hotel could be better secured in the late hours. We didn’t have an issue but most hotels have the main doors only accessible with your key card. This hotel you could walk right in and up the stairwell with no security measures in place.

Still relatively knew when I visited and some areas still needed to be completed but overall, I enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back. I liked that it was affordable, in a great location (walking distance to everything you will need) and the drinks in the bar area were great! Customer service was also great – amazing staff ! it felt like I was in a different country each time I interacted with staff considering they hired staff from different countries which was amazing.

Only downside was how loud the AC is in the rooms and the shower water pressure.

My family and I had an incredible stay at Hotel AKA Alexandria. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning ranging from the decor, scenery and overall atmosphere. Our room was clean and the interior design blew us away. Also, major kudos to the staff members, Anastasia & Joseph! We were immediately met with kind and courteous staff members that made our check-in process run smoothly, available to answer any questions we had, accommodated
an early check-in at the last minute AND assisted us with our luggage to our room. I 10/10 would recommend anyone stay here. If you’re looking for aesthetically pleasing accommodations, balanced with kind, professional, and courteous staff – you’ve found the right place! Thank you all for providing such an enjoyable experience!
