The layout of the room was great. The mattresses were a little old and not as comfortable as I would have expected for a $300 + per night room. Service was invisible and outstanding. The location was right next to the beach. However, there is no pool or hot tub. The “spa” was nice but limited to 95F, just not warm enough.

I can’t rave about this place enough! Best hotel experience I’ve ever had in my life! They take care of every last detail for you. We did have some trouble when we paid to use the rooftop hottubs, and our key cards wouldn’t work to get up there. We had to get new key cards 3 times before they worked. But if THATS the biggest issue we had, that should tell you how incredibly spot on this hotel really is. I will be recommending the Boardwalk Plaza to everyone I meet!

I can’t complain about Boardwalk Plaza, we stay there almost every September. It’s perfectly placed on the boardwalk/beach, has its own parking lot outside, and a perfectly done Victorian decor on the inside. There are many great hotels in Rehoboth Beach, but Boardwalk Plaza is unique; it feels like there is a history to it. Now, the Plaza has a glitch here and there like any hotel, but there have never been any that would disturb our visit. One of our faves is breakfast outside on the boardwalk patio, where you can sit back and enjoy the food, coffee and a cool morning while you people watch or just chill. Try it, you’ll like it.

Fun Victorian-themed hotel right on the boardwalk. We had an amazing stay during Labor Day weekend and my toddler loved the birds in the lobby. We loved the ability to come and go from the beach throughout the day. The service and staff were top notch. We thought we had an issue with our in-room mini fridge and the repair staff came to the room within 5 minutes to address the issue and all was good.

We will definitely be back!

Gus and the staff at Boardwalk Plaza Hotel truly went ABOVE AND BEYOND our expectations. We took the trip last April, and our father was sick and had hoped to enjoy the scenic views of the beach one last time. From the moment we walked in to the day we left, Gus and others were always thinking of us, helping us, and treating our family like their family. Their attention to detail and enthusiasm was second to none, as well as the constant care of our needs whether it was getting the ramp out to help my father get to the outdoor pool (wheelchair accessibility) or just the checking in to be certain our comfort level was unmatched. My family and I will absolutely never forget how compassionate and caring everyone was, and although our father is no longer with us, it brings joy to us all knowing that we were able to give him such a wonderful experience in one of the darkest times in our lives. We could never express how much this all meant to us – you helped us give our father one last terrific moment in a great life and we are forever grateful to Gus and the rest of the staff. Thank you all so much.

I love everything about this place, and have been returning almost every year for about 10 years. When my daughter was little, she loved swimming in the little pool, and as she got older, we loved the proximity to the beach. She often attended the craft sessions in the afternoon, which gave us a little reprieve, and her a break from the beach. The Victorian beach decor is so delightful, and the birds in the lobby just add to fun. The service is top notch, and location couldn’t be better. I anticipate returning for many more years to come.

This was one of the best hotels my family and I have came too. Gus, is simply the best of the best. He made us feel like family and the pool worth the jacuzzi was phenomenal. The house keeping was exceptional. This will be our new hotel for family trips to Delaware. Thank you Gus for your OUTSTANDING!!!

Never have I ever had such a bad experience staying at a hotel. I have decided that I was going to stay here at this hotel as it is close to the wonderful beach with my wife and children, and then all of a sudden we were greeted very rudely as it seemed they didn’t even want us there in the first place. We shrugged it off at first thinking “oh maybe someone’s just having a bad day” so we decide to get up to our room and before we even put our bags down, we had noticed that the room smelled like expired milk, the walls looked like they haven’t been cleaned in years, and the worst part of all of this that made my family instantly head back home was that we found bedbugs! Absolutely terrible experience and I never even got my money back from my stay, cheapskates if you personally ask me! I hope they shake in their boots as I am going to be bringing my lawyers and will have them shut down for good because a hotel should NOT have rude employees, disgusting rooms and the most important one, bedbugs! They do not care about the well-being of families and children!

This is by far our favorite hotel! We absolutely love it here. We enjoy the Victorian decor, the cleanliness and overall relaxing atmosphere and the birds are a treat as they put a smile on your face as does the fabulous staff! The rooms are lovely, the beds are comfortable and the amenities are great. The restaurant “Victoria’s” has great food and incredible cocktails. Such friendly folks here. We would like to give a special shout out to Gus! Thank you everyone at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel we look forward to staying again soon!

Great location and fun hotel. Went for a sisters weekend so we had to use the pull out couch. Honestly you are basically sleeping on springs! It was quite surprising considering the high prices. That is the reason for the 3 stars which is being generous. I’ve never had a worse sleeping experience!!

We are still here as I type this. This place is amazing. The location is beyond perfect. The walk to the shops and the main strip is so close you could skip a rock and hit em’. The staff is outstanding and very punctual. The room is beyond what we expected and the view of the ocean and the boardwalk adds the perfect vibe to the already retro yet modern setting. The parking is safe and convenient with there also being multiple entrances/exits surrounding the hotel. Anything you need to do is right around the corner with bigger shipping no more than 5 minutes out. Just north (8minutes) is a WW2 fort and trails. (Ft. Miles and Brandon Falls (lol). We will be back to visit and hope to get the same great room again.

This was our second stay this year at Boardwalk Plaza. We loved it both times. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms and common areas are clean and well maintained. The architecture and location on the beach are awesome. We really enjoyed the pool/hottub in the lobby area.

An amazing staff that is sooo friendly and accommodating. We had cocktails in the bar and in the lounge area. We had a beautiful dinner sitting right on the boardwalk with exquisite views (see pics!). The waitress was superb!
The food was perfect!!!
The room was fine — didn’t spend much time there— beds were very comfortable.
Maid service was perfect!

If you stay here and want an ocean view, be sure to ask if your view will be impeded by the roof canopy over the lobby. Our balcony barely accommodated two chairs and our view of the ocean was blocked by the canopy. We addressed this with the miserable old man at the front desk who merely shrugged his shoulders. Personally, I wouldn’t have this person part of my staff. Overall, we liked the hotel and the restaurant. The rest of the hotel and restaurant staff were great. The miserable old man earned your hotel one star.

A jewel in downtown Avila Beach. One block from everything. Comfortable rooms, welcoming staff and fabulous hospitality. The morning croissants and evening Linn’s pies are over the top, spectacular.

The best place we have stayed in Central Coast. I read about all that was provided and I didn’t believe it until we stayed here. Customer service was amazing, rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean (with a fridge and microwave). We almost never had to leave the hotel (except the 3 minute walk to the beach). Breakfast was croissants with coffee, tea, and OJ, midday snack of a nacho bar was enough for lunch and it included beer and Mexican Coke in a bottle, evening wine and treats including shrimp, charcutier board, sweets, dips, and more, and then the 8 o’clock most delicious pie which was baked on site and came with ice cream. Also included was an amazing goodie basket in our room filled with soda, water, chips, snacks and sweets. They knew we were celebrating our 37th anniversary and place a bottle of Opolo sparkling wine in our fridge. In addition, the hotel provided beach towels and chairs at no charge. I told my husband that if I every disappear, to check La Fonda because that is where I will escape too.

Great spainish style decore. Nice rooms. Fire places, kitchens in some, some have jacuzzi bathtub. All have patio with chairs and table. Nice receprions for guests. Close to Avila beach and shops,1 block. Great staff.

I stayed for the very first time at La Fonda a week ago to celebrate my 23rd wedding anniversary. The hotel was just perfect! The staff, the rooms, the service and food offered were absolutely perfect.
Only thing I can say was not a plus for my husband and I was our mattress. The mattress was old and we felt the springs and gave us body aches. Especially me since ai suffer from back pain.
I can suggest maybe adding a bed topper to give it and provide comfort.
Other than that we loved it and plan on going at least once a year and make it our yearly getaway.

I hope next time I am there my bed will be more comfortable.

Above everything the hotel is the best hotel I have ever stayed at and can’t wait to be there again. I will go prepared and take something to make my mattress a little more comfortable

A returning guest and nothing has changed over all these years, everything is just so excellent! Pleasantly awoken every morning with the scent of fresh croissants, to the early afternoon salsa bar, charcuterie and wine in the evening and of course, baked pies for later .
Quiet rooms and great daily cleaning service, snacks and drinks, you never want to leave!

Excellent boutique hotel one block from the beach. The personalization and attention to detail are above and beyond here. From their custom and intimate happy hour bites and wine, pie time, and morning pastries, to their welcome baskets and check out gifts…these small details win big in my heart. The whirlpool tubs, the beautiful kitchens, and lovely fireplace really made this place feel like home away from home. They are pet friendly and very accommodating all
Around. Loved the hospitality and kindness. I will be back for sure. Highly recommend the Alapay tasting room and winery across the street. Excellent wines!

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The check in with Shelly and our check out went very smoothly and everyone at the front desk throughout our weekend was extremely helpful. Our room was large and also had a full kitchen. There also seemed to be something yummy being served in the communal dining room at all hours of the day. Breakfast included warm croissants followed a little later in the day with chips, salsa, guacamole, beer and soda. After that was a charcuterie board with wine and to end the day there was pie and ice-cream. This hotel definitely wants to make sure you are well fed. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again.

Worthy of being a 4 star hotel compared to all the 3 star hotels in the wider area. The parking is great, the rate includes wine and snacks + breakfast. The location is amazing. The staff is super friendly. Check in and check out is super fast. Rooms were nice and well stocked + clean. What more can you ask for these days? It’s simple to run a nice hotel but most chains can’t hit that high quality these days.

When a smaller hotel like this gets everything right, it just makes your stay so relaxing.

I rarely recommend any hotels I stay at these days, but this place gets a strong recommendation.
