It is a favorite of ours to celebrate an anniversary or birthday. It is a great place to relax and renew after hiking the Shoreline Path. Been doing it for over 20 years. Rooms are fun. We really liked the Vintage Lace this time. Breakfast is delicious. Location is great between Williams Bay and Fontana.
Great place to stay, quiet, and relaxing. Wish I would have let them know we are both gluten free, the breakfast sweet rolls looked delicious just we couldn’t give them a try.
My wife and I are Chicagoans who were looking for a long weekend getaway without significant travel and welcoming of my two dogs. Well, after staying at Lazy Cloud Inn, it’s safe to say we’ll be long weekend regulars here. We stayed in the Stone Grotto Inn on the property off of highway 50. It was gorgeous. Studio style room with whirlpool, fireplace, microwave, fridge, cable, internet, a patio, AND a keurig. Stone arches outline the whirlpool and fireplace and excellent views of the forest surrounds you. They provide dog bowls, treats for them, and have you sign a release for them when you check in. No biggie. They also provided water, plated breakfast for the next morning, champagne, and chocolate. King bed, big comfy couch, and air conditioning/heat in the room if you want it. Also featured a porch swing on the patio and so many beautiful sounds of being out and away in nature. You also are only 6 minutes outside of downtown Lake Geneva. All in all we LOVED our stay. Our room had carpet, which we don’t love, but it was very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend checking this spot out if you’re a local Chicagoan looking for a great retreat.
Room was cozy and dog friendly but had a little sour, musty stench. It wasn’t horrific though for a quick getaway. They left the dog treats upon arrival. Nice and quiet.
We not only stayed in this lovely Bed and Breakfast, but we held our small wedding here (at the B&B in Fontana, not the Lodge). They have a variety of sensibly-priced, small wedding packages to chose from and every detail of our wedding was perfect. From the flowers, to the cake, to the food… everything was wonderful and they took care of it all. It was as if we had our wedding in the home of dear friends. And breakfast the following morning did not disappoint! A solid, homemade breakfast with hot and cold items exceeded our expectations. We will be back to celebrate our anniversaries in years to come.
My wife and I just finished a 2 day stay in the Tiffany room at the Lazy Cloud B&B in Fontana, and it was so very relaxing, and the room was AMAZING! Out in the middle of nowhere, away from the usual. The breakfast each morning was awesome and the people who work there were very nice. Nobody bothers you which what makes it so relaxing. A much need to do if you want to get away and relax. Will definitely be back again.
Recently my husband and I did a mid week get away and stayed in the Hayloft. It was our anniversary and were immediately charmed by the staircase risers that led to our private suite. Each riser had a word that completed the phrase, “Grow old with me,” and the 2nd flight, The Best is yet to be.” The suite was charming and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and all the little details made this a very wonderful stay. The breakfast in the am was wonderful! We will definitely be returning to this little gem!
Bridle Room in the Stables is beautiful and very romantic. Decorated beautifully with a double soaker copper tub which is lovely and a separate steam shower and small sitting room.
Bar and speakeasy very cool. Customer service was wonderful. Highly recommended!
It was a really lovely place. I booked a room for 2 nights with my husband for our anniversary. We got one of the rooms with the hot tub. It was either the stables or the carriagehouse, I can’t remember.
Everything was lovely, except I could hear the gentleman next door in his hot tub talking on the phone. It was like he was in the same room. Paper thin walls. Doesn’t make for a romantic evening if you know what I mean. Staff was super friendly, and the room and grounds were lovely. The fact that I could hear my neighbors was a big turn turn off, unfortunately. We have kids, so privacy was important to us. If we could hear him, he most certainly could hear us lol. I also ordered chocolate covered strawberries, which never arrived. Housekeeping showed up after 1 while we were trying to relax and nap after our lunch, so our room never got cleaned. I would try a different room next time.
We stayed for a long weekend around Halloween. The staff were great. Bartenders in The Apothecary and Speakeasy were awesome mixologist. Having bars and food on site was a bonus. A great couples retreat! Town is walkable if weather permits.
My stay at Maxwell felt like staying in an upscale motel. If you stay here I would not recommend the “carriage house” and would suggest the mansion or the stables. The floors in the rooms were quite cold and access to natural light was difficult while trying to balance privacy as the room opens right out to the road and parking lot. The drink ticket only covered beer or wine or 1 cocktail in the upstairs bar and the cocktail was disgusting so wine was my only other option. Bartender was prickly. At the end of the day, $1000 for 3 nights in a motel like room in non peak season left much to be desired.
I have not stayed overnight but I have toured the facility and find it charming. The wait staff is superlative. Go, even if just for a drink and enjoy!
My husband and I enjoyed our 36th Anniversary on Valentine’s Day staying at the Bridle Suite. The rustic decor and the chandelier over the bed gave the room a warm, charming, elegant feel. It was wonderful to have a separate sitting area when first walking in. The shower…was amazing! The jets on the shower panel and the added steam feature were so relaxing. I could have stayed in for hours. My favorite though, had to be the sheets! They were the softest, most comfortable sheets I’ve ever slept on. Our stay was amazing; quality all around.
Just stayed here! Amazing experience! The building is beautiful, kept us nicely, and very clean. We enjoyed the complimentary robes, water, makeup wipes and more! Also, we received a free choice of a cocktail or mock tail which tasted amazing! We stayed in the outer area. Staff was very friendly and the lady gave us some history behind the building this morning! Would highly recommend staying here! I’ll come back for sure!
We stayed in the Carriage House with a Queen size bed and a whirlpool. The whirlpool tub was very nice, but a little too small for two people. The shower was fantastic – large and had an amazing shower panel with three different settings. The air conditioner was way too loud and right next to the bed. It sounded like a wind tunnel every time it kicked on. The room had a nice rustic feel to it, but it was missing some basic amenities like a microwave and small fridge. It did have a Keurig. Parking was just outside of the door of the room, so very convenient! Overall, this was a nice hotel stay.
We stayed after attending a wedding downtown. It was such a unique & beautiful place. The room was spacious & clean. The shower was amazing. The staff was so nice. While we were checking out the inside we were lucky enough to run into the owner who was nice enough to give us a full tour. She was awesome & knew SO much about the property. Highly recommend it to anyone staying in Lake Geneva.
