Authentic Reviews of Kansas Hotels Featuring In-Room Jacuzzis
The bed and chair I read my book in was comfortable. The seal on the balcony door, that I didn’t want, but the nice lady at the front desk needed my room for another guest, didn’t seal. There was a large gap of light under the door, so all the sound from outside came in. And since I was facing Wyatt Earp Drive, I had to listen to all the noise of idiots driving like children. I didn’t get a good nights sleep. Bed was comfortable, but it was too noisy. My only other complaint is that I’m 6′ 4″ and the shower only came up to my chest, but that’s just me whining.
Hotel location is right on highway 50 next to a very large train depot. The train yard operates 24/7 with no regard to “quite hours” in the city ordinance. There are many semi trucks running cattle to and from the major feed lots all along hwy50 right though town. Add to this the train whistle that sounds like it’s right in your room and the hot rods racing down the roads and your sleep will be broken and sporadic. Lastly (but not really lastly) the AC in our room (206) did not work so it was stuffy and noisy. The drone of the AC might have helped with the street/train noise. I do want to say the staff was friendly and the hotel very clean. Breakfast was average fare for this range of hotels and other than a few drunk dudes the location seems safe. Perhaps staying on non street side of hotel with a working AC would help with overall experience. Still, it’ll be hard to ignore that train whistle blast!
The atmosphere and rooms are the best things about this hotel. Service had no manners, especially the breakfast lady… but I loved the coffee and cappuccino machine in the lobby.
One very nosey staff, very Gossipy, force her service on you even after you tell her you are ok. She will follow you and stare you down, Older white haired lady. All other staff were very professional.
Kids had the pool to themselves, the room was clean, staff members were super nice and went above and beyond to accommodate us! IHOP and a gas station are just a few feet away for late night food and snacks, and the complimentary breakfast had a nice selection of hot and cold foods. Staycation Hotel Birthday Party mission accomplished!!
This is a really nice place! Bed was a bit soft for my taste, but the room was nice, very clean, and the people were great. There is even a small bar in the lobby. Breakfast was outstanding! Will definitely stay there again.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Man did they go above and beyond in the appearance and decor of this hotel. The rooms were quiet and very spacious.
The breakfast buffet was OK, nothing to write home about.
Can’t say enough good things. 5 star in every aspect. Sue is AWESOME! She checked us in at 1 AM and walked us back to our room. Decorated great for Christmas. EXCEPTIONALLY clean rooms. Hot hot shower. Superb breakfast and coffee. This is the only place we will stay in Dodge City. So good they should be in best western commercials.
A very nice surprise on a very long trip! We were taking mostly State roads to get to Ojo Caliente from St Louis Missouri. We were going to stay in Dodge City but the rates were obscene. Found this place in Greensburg by chance. Indoor pool, typical Continental breakfast but they never ran out of anything at the buffet. Hotel was very very clean, among the cleanest I have stayed in for quite some time. They clearly take pride in their establishment and it shows. Would stay here again, unfortunately I doubt my travels will take me that way.
Located on Hwy 54 in Greensburg, Kansas. Clean rooms and friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Get there before 6pm if you want to eat out in town because everything starts closing. The Dillons grocery store stays open a little later if you need food.
The MAIN reason I booked this hotel & choose Greensburg was the pool. Traveling to SW KS isn’t an ideal weekend getaway for young children but I had placated them with promises of lots of pool time. Upon check-in, after several hours in the car with cranky children, I find out that the pool is closed for Memorial Day weekend. Why? I was told that a hotel employee had broken the lock apparently and they had no way to open it. The hotel owner was out of town & nothing could be done. Thank goodness no one was stuck inside the pool room. I asked about a discount & was told that I had a discounted rate so there were no additional discounts to be given (I had booked through my corporate travel account). Granted, I’m sure there are reasons that hotel room doors with electronic locks aren’t the easiest thing to pick and locksmiths are probably tough to come by on a holiday weekend in rural KS but at least make an effort. The problem-solving capabilities of the staff at this location are dismal at best. On a positive note, the hotel was really clean. Much cleaner than most hotels in this price point are. So if I was travelling sans kids I would stay there again for this reason.
There aren’t many options. That said the rooms were relatively clean. Beds comfortable and pillows didn’t immediately go flat. Breakfast was good (the coffee machine is wonkie and they taste sweet so if you don’t drink sweet coffee use the coffee maker in the room). Rooms have microwaves! There aren’t a lot of food options so consider bringing microwavable dinner.
PEE SOAKED BED pull out couch was SOPPING WET with urine
My grandmother is a business owner who winters in Arizona. Every year she stops at this hotel both ways on her drive down from Minnesota. I am accompanying her to assist on her trip home tonight and was planning to sleep on the pull out couch. We reserved our room this morning ahead of time and arrived around 10:30 pm.
After 13 hours of car travel we are exhausted. Opening up the pull out couch I first noticed something like pieces of tree bark on the sheets, and then found when I went to wipe them off that the sheets weren’t dry. Then further realized they were outright wet. Sniff test confirmed the comically absurd and horrible fact that the sheets were soaked through into the mattress with pee. We called in the front desk woman who was helpful but not apologetic. She was ready to just give me new sheets and have me sleep on that mattress until I pointed out that it too was wet and stank. I am so exhausted that I just decided to not be difficult and just put the sheets on the dry but stiff adjacent part of the couch that doesn’t fold up.
My grandmother, who has been a habitually loyal customer for probably a decade, left the room to ask if they could reduce the bill. Now a man named Roy, who was either the manager or owner, was involved and when she explained our situation to him she was yelled at, threatened with being asked to leave, and accused of dirtying the bed herself as a scam. When she said that accusation was insulting he called her names.
At this time it’s reached about 11:30 and she is rationally scared enough about being unable to find another place to sleep that she just walked back to her room with some meager new bedding and hoped nobody came to remove us.
This has been a dehumanizing and inhumane experience and she won’t come back.
This hotel was very nice. It smelled amazing and very clean. The room was spacious for us. The full breakfast was nice and hot and all the staff was pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.
The hotel did not have our reservation while in town for a wedding. They charged $70 more for the night then others were charged. Everyone was charged a different rate for the same night. Some people that stayed for the wedding were charged twice so watch your credit card if you stay here. They had housekeeping staff running the front desk and did not know how to handle the situation. The owner, Roy, was nowhere to be found and the staff did not know how to get ahold of him. Breakfast was good though.
The lady would checked us in was hard to understand and so was the owner. They dont know Bestwestern perks for Diamond Elite members for free upgrades. Why are hotels pumping scents in the hotels? It made us sick.
Clean, comfortable and the staff was delightful. The only complaint would be the walls are thin and you hear voices, coughing and TV’s. We would stay again. Great breakfast too!
This hotel is super nice. The staff is friendly. We enjoyed the pool which is open until 1030. This was an appreciated time, as we checked in late during a cross country trip and it allowed the kids to get out extra energy before bed. The restaurants in town close early so plan ahead!
