WOW! Historic treasure – lovingly and tastefully refurbished! While planning on staying in Lava Springs, The Harkness Hotel kept popping up on all platforms – so I booked nothing – choosing instead to stop in on the way through! What an amazing place. We paid same as best web price – which for such quality is outstanding value – and – “becaue he could” we were also generously given a complimentary upgrade to one of the best rooms in the house. The entire experience was classy, comfortable, clean! This property is not a typical hotel experience – way superior! A gourmet coffee machine set us up for our morning departure. Wished we had longer – Thanks to the Harkness Hotel – I highly recommend you to all!
This stay was a birthday treat to myself. I was in the Indigo Room. I had a fabulous tub, and it got used. Bring bubble bath!
It was so lovely and so wonderful that they repurposed the building into a hotel. Their gift shop is the old bank vault!
There is a little café just a two minute walk down from the hotel. Fabulous French toast and cinnamon rolls and bread to acquire after your meal. And a mini-grocery store right across the street, if that is more to your liking, or your room has a kitchenette.
For your awareness, there is no elevator if your room is on the 2nd floor.
A renovated bank made into a boutique hotel. Rooms are good size, and they have historical pictures all around the building. Close to Lava hot springs and across the street from a Cafe. For some reason they don’t have a coffee pot in the rooms but do have a small fridge and microwave. Would be awesome if they had a bar in the basement! Will stay there again, much nicer than the places in lava proper.
This is a fabulous hotel and I’m not the type of person to use the word fabulous. It’s located in a quaint town not far from Lava Hot Springs but definitely worth the stay. The room itself is by far the best decorated with the nicest fixtures of any hotel or resort I’ve ever stayed. I highly recommend going off the beaten path to stay here, it was a great little getaway for my wife and me for our anniversary.
Loved, loved, loved this treasure of a place off the beaten path. The place was originally a bank and it has been lovingly renovated into an intimate hotel with remarkable attention to detail. The rooms are spacious and bright, the lighting is excellent, and the heating and air conditioning is effective, responsive, and quiet. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and they have an expresso machine in the lobby that offers a variety of delicious drinks that are to die for.
We stayed in the beautiful remodeled 1930s house they call the Sage House. Its a block from the actual hotel and it was perfect for our party of 7 people with 4 queen beds and 2 comfortable couches and full kitchen. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking a little getaway away from the city.
This is located in a tiny town near Lava Hot Springs. It is a historic building that has been beautifully redesigned as a hotel with thoughtful features and comfortable rooms. Best hotel in the area for sure. Worth staying at if you are in the area for the hot springs. Staff was very friendly and kind enough to show around the hotel and explain the history of the area.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Harkness Hotel after a quick visit to the hot springs, and it exceeded all of my expectations. The charming historic building added to the overall ambiance and made for a truly unique experience. The room was immaculate, yet still retained so much character and charm. It was not at all cold or sterile like some hotels can be. The room was also surprisingly large, I had assumed it would be smaller considering the historic nature of the building, so the spaciousness of it was a pleasant surprise. The linens were super luxurious and warm, which was perfect for the snowy evening. The lobby was stunningly beautiful and the hot beverage bar was a delicious and convenient added bonus. We received a very helpful recommendation for the darling cafe down the road (Rae’s Cafe) and dined there for dinner. I’ve seen a lot of reviews mention the lack of dining in the little town, but the new cafe seems to remedy that, so there’s nothing stopping you from a lovely stay. The only thing I’d add is that they are closed on Sunday, so plan on dining elsewhere if your stay falls on that day. Overall I’d say this is one of the cutest places I’ve ever stayed and I’d highly recommend it.
My husband and I stayed in the Indigo room a few nights ago for our anniversary. The rooms are large and beautiful. The fireplace was romantic and cozy for a chilly evening. The bed was so comfortable it may you almost want to sleep all night ?. The hotel was clean, quiet, and beautifully remodeled. The staff extended our check out time to meet our couples massage the next morning in the spa. The massage was so relaxing- they did a great job. Highly recommend staying at the hotel and enjoying the benefits on the spa!
Booked a night here because I was born in this tiny town and had to find out what a hotel there would be like. Turns out-it would be terrific! I stayed in the Ivory and had a wonderful time. Lava Hot Springs is super close so I went there to soak in the pools and then came back to take another soak in the big bathtub in my room. I loved the high ceilings and the bed was super comfortable. It’s a lovely place to stay, and only two hours straight up the freeway from Salt Lake so it makes for an easy and fun weekend getaway!
We stayed in the jungle room for my bday, it was clean, spacious, and unique. Fish in the switch controlled waterfall, tons of dimming options, jetted tub that fits 2 comfortable facing the TV, and a double headed shower. Breakfast and movie snacks/drinks with plenty of options on the TV. Will definitely go back for another special occasion to try another suite.
We have stayed several times over the years and it’s just losing its luster. The art on the walls is amazing but for the price you pay it’s not worth it anymore. The carpets are dated and worn. The tub has chips in it and the shower was cracked and had very worn tile. The room we were in had a walk way with loose “tile” pieces. As soon as we walked into the room it smelled musty and like mold and mildew. While sitting in the soaking tub we had stuff drop out of the grape lattice ceiling into the bath. When we turned on the jets the tub foamed like crazy. It was really nice a few years ago but for the price tag you could get a huge modern suite. They have a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker but no coffee not even a plastic cup to get a drink from the sink. On the plus side they did have some nice add ons like chilled cider, or a movie bucket, but the staff had no idea how to help us with a DVD for the TV attached at the ceiling. It is easy to get on and off the highway or go into old town.
When a winter storm forced us to move up our arrival, the staff was unbelievably accommodating, having our room ready for an early check-in 4 hours early!
Despite the rush they had to make on our behalf, the music they had going and everything about the preparations they made, left the atmosphere really feeling like we’d stepped out of the present, and into the middle of a cabin in the forest.
Magical, romantic, and one of many reasons we choose this theme hotel year after year.
Worth every penny to escape the fast paced life of the present, slow down, and step back into another time. I love it!!!
This place is phenomenal. The customer service was amazing. The owners are amazing and very compassionate. Despite the unfortunate events we had the day of our stay, the owners and staff were there to make it so our day was better. Thank you guys!!! We would highly recommend this business!!
It was a very nice getaway for my husband and I. The staff were really kind and so helpful. And the room was beautiful and so fun to explore! We definitely plan on coming back one day!
We spent 2 nights here, and we were so lucky, because we could stay in 2 different suites. The first night we spent in the Atlantis and the second night we were in the Egypt suite. I have to say that I’ve never been this happy ever! We were able to bring our son and being an ocean lover he enjoyed the Atlantis so much. We also brought a guest with us and he stayed for 2 nights at the wild wild west suite, oh how he loved every moment!! If you’re in Pocatello, ID please stay at this inn, the breakfasts were wonderfully served and the hosts were absolutely amazing as well. If we come back to Idaho again, I know exactly where we will stay. ?
LOVED the Cave Room where we stayed. The stars in the ceiling were magical; I loved the shower and the tub, and breakfast was amazing. We had a wonderful anniversary there. For anyone who stays at Destinations (the sister hotel to this one): there is not complementary cheesecake at this one, but it is magical all the same.
