If you are booking a room here for the luxurious experience after seeing exceptional reviews online just know that you have to book a room above $500 to actually enjoy this experience,if you are booking a “regular “ room that costed you $350 -400 (still way above then other good hotels) you will be treated like a peasant ,rooms don’t even have regular things like microwave and mini fridge , you will have to repeatedly request them and still might not get them (good luck if you have a child that needs warmed up milk or such ) your “view” might look like as shown in the picture ,don’t be fooled with the captivating view online ,those are probably from the “gold”rooms that cost 1k plus per night ,if you can not afford that don’t bother and book a hotel for $155 per night with bigger rooms and all the utilities you expect in a room ,very disappointing experience,we requested 5 plates ,which took 2 hours to get and 2 different people brought 3 plates in total ,manager offered an apology which I appreciate but still didn’t get the stuff that we kept waiting for ,really wish we would have booked another hotel more suitable for us peasants ,we could have stayed 2 nights for the same amount and more comfortably where we didn’t have to request little things you expect to be provided ,this also makes me think those YouTube vloggers tell the hotel beforehand that they are filming their stay here ,that’s why they are given special treatment and “surprise “ gifts or decorated beds waiting for them ,our experience has been below average
Mr. Bilal out front was kind and welcoming. He remembered my name everytime he saw me. His attention to detail in remembering past conversations and asking how things went the following day was above and beyond. He made our family feel comfortable and taken care of. The first greeting sets the tone. Bilal set the bar extremely high
Mr. Omar and the front desk as the most gracious manners. His attention to details had made our stay very comfortable. Upon checking in I highly recommend Mr. Omar. He goes above and beyond consistently
We love staying at Fairmont Hotels. The Hotel Macdonald has beautiful views of the Edmonton river valley which can be enjoyed from the gardens and patios. We had a delicious meal on the patio and it was the best way to spend an August evening surrounded by a beautiful garden overlooking the river.
We were celebrating my birthday in the Empire Ballroom and it was fantastic. Our service and the food was incredible and I couldn’t ask for more for today! Our servers Sonia and Maria were great and they were great people to talk to while also diligent at their work. Every member of the staff were great and friendly. I would come again!
Bedroom as described below. Basically loud room even though I had asked for a quiet one as we were there to celebrate a 50th birthday. The acoustics were horrible and it made for a very long sleepless night. Worst part of our celebration.
Alright I’ll start with the positives. The hotel common space is stunning, with an unbelievable courtyard and an amazing view of the river valley below. The staff are courteous, welcoming, and I was even upgraded from a city view to a river view room! But then the negatives… the rooms are small, which I expected at a historic hotel. What I didn’t expect was a bed that shook wildly if my wife so much as moved an arm. The pillows were hard and too thick. They have bright green lights the shine on the building all night, so we couldn’t enjoy the evening views from our room as the blinds had to be closed to keep out the eerie green light. The bathtub is so old the finish is gone from the bottom, and the drain is slow so I had to stand in a puddle while I showered. There was no bedside table on my side of the bed, and no nearby outlets to charge devices.
For such an iconic brand, I expected the quality to be much better. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it.
If you’d like to sit and wait for zero service on overpriced alcohol. Please make your way tor the JW Marriott lounge. We walked up to the bar and were told to take a seat and that we’d be served. 10 minutes later we were still gazing at the bar as the servers spoke amongst themselves and tapped on their phones . We finally decided to leave. Do better in order to justify your pricing please.
WOW, such a great people. They accommodated our early arrival and late check out, they were helpful, nice and always available, and very kind and respectful. The most important part was that they prepared the room for our kids, set up a caravan tent and log fire inside the room as well as a stuffed animal for each kids. Lots of chocolates and candies and a very warm welcome notes. My kids were so overwhelmed and happy to see all these cares and kindness. My kids also received special coloured entry card for their stays. Buffet was great for breakfast and the menu almost cover any tastes. The afternoon snack was also great. The most important part was the staff that always ready to help. Rooms were nicely built and TVs working with any streams. Bed frames and furniture all are made from high end materials. However, the mattress were not very comfortable and I believe they should be replace with a new one. We enjoyed our short stay this long weekend and highly recommend this place.
Best hotel in Edmonton, easy. Rooms are lovely and well maintained. The facilities are top-notch with a gym you won’t find in any other hotel in the province. Executive Lounge is sleek and comfortable, and has meals twice a day. Staff goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The best.
Couldn’t ask for more. Great hotel, great location, and I happened to get a great deal.
The service was excellent, as expected. I do feel that our cleaning staff went slightly above and beyond. I was a little disappointed that there was no shoehorn in our room, but the front desk was able to acquire one for us. Wish they were standard here.
Great experience! The staff was excellent, and really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. You can tell they actually care about you and go out of their way to show it. We were traveling with a toddler and were concerned about the suitability of the hotel…but our concerns were gone after the first day when the staff had left a toddler tub with baby soap, and a diaper genie after servicing the room. It might seem like a little thing, but it made our life so much easier, and our little one loved play time in the bath! This was our best Edmonton hotel experience.
Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Great rooms, excellent staff, and perfect location of you’re going to Rogers place. Lobby bar had some great drinks, alchemy was fun, and kindred had a great morning cappuccino. Room was spacious and comfortable. Walking distance to many great restaurants. Housekeeping staff kept the rooms in great shape. Will definitely stay again if I have an event in the area.
