Beautiful rooms that are very comfortable, scrumptious 3-course breakfasts, and a short, easy walk to town with fun shops, wonderful restaurants, and interesting things to do. We enjoyed our first visit to Maine and loved our stay at the 1802 Inn. We look forward to staying there again to see this area in another season.
We spent 2 nights here, and the room and breakfast were amazing. Very comfortable, felt like we were the only ones staying there. The location was perfect, just outside of town. Close to all the sights and restaurants. When we come back through Maine, we will definitely stay again.
We booked the whole inn for a 12-person wedding ceremony, and it was exactly what we were looking for. 1802 House is such a lovely space for an intimate gathering with friends and family. Incredible service, delicious breakfast, close to downtown Kennebunkport. Highly recommend. Thank you to Eileen and Carl for making our wedding day and weekend so special.
When we travel in New England, my wife and I like to stay at bed and breakfasts that include the year the house was built. What can I say, it’s our thing. I can say, initially I hesitated to make this reservation- the pictures were so-so, and it looked a little…older than we would have liked (even for a 220yr old home). But in the end, we did it, and boy, are we glad we did. We arrived late due to bad traffic (thanks for that, NY and CT), but Eileen and Carl were helpful and communicative and got us into our room when we arrived. The house was lovely…everything you’d want from a New England B&B- rustic fireplace, charming decor, interesting layout. We booked the Windsor room- it was lovely, with a fireplace (we did not use), a nice little sitting area, TV that could swivel so you could watch from the bed or the sitting area, private bath with a nice sized walk-in shower. The room was clean and comfortable. After settling in, we walked down to Kennebunkport. It was a quick 12min walk, which we sorely needed after our 14hr drive. This is one of the great things about the 1802 that people may not realize- the location. It’s a quick walk to the town, you can get to it from the north so you can avoid having to deal with driving through the town (which is a big plus on a busy summer weekend, believe me)…it was just so convenient to be able to park and forget. The location is serene, set against a golf course on the end of a street in a residential area…just lovely. Carl and Eileen were great hosts! Coffee, tea and snacks available all day. Breakfast was a three course affair, Carl cooking and Eileen serving. Everything was DELICIOUS, which for us is a huge part of these trips- we love to enjoy good, clean food in a serene environment, and the 1802 House certainly delivered! I can’t say enough good things about Carl and Eileen and their place- having taken over just before COVID and struggling through to emerge on the other side…I have a lot of respect for them, and to be able to maintain such a wonderful experience for their guests through it all…just amazing. I wish we had been able to stay for more than just a couple of nights, but our travels took us elsewhere. Next time we are back in ME though, we will definitely be looking to stay here again. I highly recommend you do, too!
My wife and I stayed at 1802 House and had the most relaxing, enjoyable weekend! Our room was very cozy, well decorated, and extremely tidy, with everything we could have wanted in an inn for a weekend retreat. The gas fireplace definitely made the room feel nice and warm in the evenings. Breakfast was delicious each morning, with special attention given to our dietary restrictions. Carl and Eileen were very helpful with recommendations for things to do in the area, and we really appreciated their knowledge of the local area. The Inn is a short walk from downtown Kennebunkport and all of its restaurants and shops, which we really enjoyed as well. We hope to come back again soon, and would not hesitate to recommend 1802 House!
Very kind staff especially the clerk with the pony tail, so nice… Checks people in AND delivers food. Seems the valets have an easier job than her. So tip everyone, but an extra to the overworked ladies who check you in then carry a huge tray to your room…. I can’t believe (at least me tip the valet, the bell service who bring your luggage up- but never the over tired , over worked clerks who check you in then also deliver room service…Boy I did tonight, saw what was going on. The most humble don’t ask, expect…. Wonderful hotel, would never ever ask what do you get paid? But the owners should definitely pay front desk clerks very well…They handled everything , with humble grace. They did EVERYTHING. Check you in, deliver food – shame on the owners if they don’t respect and pay these workers double. Honest to God. They deserve it. Beautiful hotel, lovely workers, but too obvious some work harder than others…..
WOW, what customer service from the Bell Hop, to the Front Desk, to the Valet DAMN GOOD JOB!! There was like an old piece of fruit on the couch, a few hairs in the Whirlpool. My husband had booked this special room for our family trip, but y’all forgot to have the chilled wine, the chocolates, the bathrobes, the slippers, the bubble bath, the sparkling water, and we had to have maintenance come up and make the Whirlpool stop coming back on….. With saying that you definitely dropped the ball there, y’all picked it rite up we were apologized to, and immediately brought up robes for all four of us ( yes they brought enough for our children ) THANK YOU FOR THAT, our chilled wine, slippers, housekeeping, the local chocolate were out, so the gentleman brought up chocolate desserts with fresh strawberries, macarons, crunchy chocolate pearls, and dollops of creamy Chantilly cream. OH WHAT GREAT SERVICE!
Great hotel! Beds are super comfy, showers have great water pressure. I love how easy it is to get to great places to eat around town. Alexander is a great front desk employee. He gave us tips on where to go for dessert, food and made us feel very welcome. We’ll be back!
Hotel was beautiful and immaculate. Had every feature and amenity you could desire. Also, the best location in Portland probably.
Alexander at the front desk is the cream of the crop when it comes to employees in the service industry. He himself made the stay go from a 7/10 to a 10/10, and I am really looking forward to a return. Whatever he is paid, I believe it’s not enough.
