The property is under new management and right off the highway. The check in was fast and efficient. After a long day of driving that really helps. The room was spacious and immaculate. The hotel amenities were plentiful and exactly what we needed. The breakfast room was large and welcoming. I especially liked the early start time of 630am which allowed me to get back on the road home feeling fresh and the comfortable bed made me well rested for my long drive home. I highly recommend this gem of a hotel. Thank you to the staff of the Comfort Suites!
New ownership is doing it right! Service was excellent and everyone friendly. Hotel was so clean and updated. Breakfast was the best we have had at Choice. Definitely stopping here again on trips!
This hotel went from “ok” to ” top notch” when the new management took over. The breakfast area is open pretty much all the time, they have fruit, juice, tea and coffee available free. Staff is very friendly and do everything to make you happy. Love staying here during road trips.
Under new management and it was comparable to any 5 star hotel. Stayed 1 night coming and going from SC to Ohio. Everything was clean, quiet, and VERY comfortable bed. Front desk check-in persons were very helpful, courteous, and professional. Would recommend stay there if in Wytheville
This was my first time staying in a Comfort Suites and everything was fantastic! Staff was friendly, hotel and room was very clean and smelled fresh. Room was very spacious. Beds were comfortable & they included plenty of both soft and firm pillows. It was also a bonus that they don’t allow pets so you don’t have to worry about any pet hair or allergies. There was also complimentary breakfast in the morning as well. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. 5 stars!!
Beautiful historical home in peaceful setting! We loved the character and history of this B&B. Communication with Innkeeper was easy and excellent. Loved the yummy breakfast too! Would definitely stay here again.
The owner Frank is the most disrespectful “business owner” I have ever had to deal with in my life. Upon arriving to the home I received a text from him letting me know he would be out of town for his mother’s memorial, God rest her soul. Funny thing about Frank is that he picks and chooses when he wants to run this place like a hotel, meaning procedure and guidelines. There was no check in check out. This comes into play later on. Our bathroom was cleaned twice; once without asking and another time with asking. Frank told me later on over the phone that whatever we need we need to ask about everything. Last time I checked I didn’t know that in the business of customer service the customer had to ask for the bare minimum to be completed, such as making the bed or taking out trash. The ladies keeping the inn came and went as they pleased so there was no telling when I could speak with them on things I needed. According to Frank if I needed something I was to call their personal phone number… ridiculous. The place also needs some serious renovations and cleaning. I paid for three night which upon the morning of the third day in decided I did not want to stay. I was not able to vacate because I called that wonderful cell phone number to get in contact with one of the ladies which she did not answer. I did not remove my things from my room because then I would not have somewhere to stay for the evening and I was at church that morning ( I was in Dublin for a church conference). Later on after church in the early afternoon I went and collected my belongings. I reached out to Frank regarding a refund since I did not stay the last night.
The phone call was anything but professional. He took this opportunity to laugh in my face and make a mockery of the conversation. He tried to explained that the home is not a hotel but if I wanted my money back for the last day I should have vacated prior to 11am. Those are hotel guidelines, which apparently according to Frank this place is not a hotel! In the midst of him and I having this conversation he is taking brief intermissions to have conversation with Christy (one of the women who helps to keep the home). I would also like to add that according to Frank the bathroom I was using was only supposed to be used by myself and the person staying in my room with me, but there were in fact other people utilizing the toilet and shower in that restroom. I for the life of me wish I had read the bad reviews about this place before booking because I would have made other lodging arrangements. Not to mention one of the nights we came back from church around 10pm the back door was unlocked and we were the only ones in the house. We asked Christy about it the next morning just for her to tell us that the back door cannot be accessed from the outside with is being unlocked like that was supposed to be sometime of consolation. Please get and Airbnb or stay at a REAL HOTEL rather than staying at this unprofessional establishment.
Frank please save your sarcastic response that you so graciously gave to those that also gave you a poor review. Honestly you would be wasting your time replying. I hope God works on that unkind and spiteful heart of yours.
A good friend of mine, David Hill recommended Rockwood Manor when I asked him where I should stay when my son graduated from Virginia Tech on December 15, 2023. The grounds and the home are wonderful. The house is full of the history of the home, American values and beautifully addressed for the Christmas season. The services, food and amenities cannot be beat in a surreal time setting in America’s past. Christy was wonderful; she reached out to ensure we could gain access, answers questions and prepared our breakfast the next morning. She is the best and should be acknowledged for her spirit of excellent service.
Rockwood Manor also has a Hokie room in the basement, I am sure it was in tribute to my son’s graduation. Rockwood Manor is the best of the best!
We can’t wait to go back. A beautiful home full of history. The accommodations were wonderfully comfortable. The host and staff were so friendly, we immediately felt welcomed. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We really are scheming to find reasons to get back!
So we live locally in the area of the manor, and my daughter has always been enamored with the place when we drive by. Texted Frank and managed to book a night where we were the only girls in the house. Brought my mom, myself, and my daughter (she is 9) and we had a silly night of exploring the beauty of the manor, playing in the spacious gardens/grounds, and reading about the history of the place. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with Christy in the kitchen, along with chatting with Frank about the history of the place, his family, and memories of restoring the place with his mom. Three levels of rooms, common spaces, and outdoor seating areas, the manor can definitely house large groups, and this place would be a lot of fun with a large family get together. Two pianos to choose from, if you are musical, both nicely in tune may I add as well . Keep in mind this is a historical building, built in the 1800’s, so the floors creak, bugs always find their way in through doors and windows that don’t seal as well, and sometimes the plumbing is a little quirky, but that was a part of the fun and charm for our visit. If these walls could talk was what my mom and I kept saying all evening. Frank and his wife have poured a lot of love into the place along side his mom and family, and it really shows.
