Matteson Hotels Featuring In-Room Jacuzzis and Hot Tubs: Guest Reviews
DO NOT STAY HERE! Couldn’t check in until two hours after the check in time! No housekeeping! No clean towels! Paint and tools all in the hallway and outside the elevator! The room has an odor and the phone doesn’t even work to call the front desk! Finally got a hold of the front desk and the employee was rude! I’m calling for towels and your mad as if I’m inconveniencing you!
My stay at the Hoilday Inn Matteson has been horrible and I most definitely will not return. I stayed here November 8-11, 2024 with several of my family members. We had 4 rooms with all kind issues. One room had no toilet tissues, towels, microwave not working and some lights in the room were not working. My issue was getting clean towels and toilet tissue, the basics. We should not have to go 2 days before we were given clean towels because the front desk had none. I was told housekeeping left at 10 pm on Friday. Saturday morning at 11:00, I called again and was told by the front desk they would see what they could do. There was only 1 person in housekeeping, which is ridiculous with a hotel full of people. She also told me, that one person may be gone and don’t desk didn’t have and towels. Saturday afternoon, I went to the front desk and was finally given towels and toilet paper. With all that said, my room was never cleaned for 3 days, which is unacceptable. My stay was over $400.00 and this hotel could not provide the basic needs upon our arrival. Towels and toilet tissue should never be an issue. I was charged an additional $50 when I checked in for incidentals. What incidentals!!?? When you can’t supply the basic needs upon arrival. I do know the $50 will be returned but it’s the principal. The elevator was dirty, I’m assuming from renovations. My family member told the front desk the elevator needs to be vacuumed..smh. The same family member went to the front desk and was able to get toilet tissue and a few towels for us. It’s just ridiculous to have to do all this. I spoke with another guest and he said he would be contacting IHG as well because his experience was the same. I stayed here a year ago and everything was good, which is why we returned but after this time. I will not be back! I know my few dollars don’t matter to you but they matter to me, especially when paying to stay and be comfortable away from home. It would be considerate of you to compensate us in some way for our inconvenience.
Made reservation, for a funeral that we were attending over the weekend. Reservation for a king suite so that we would have a king bed and a pull out sofa. First initially came into the hotel and was very impressed. The lobby is gorgeous. The bar is great, it smelled good. We check in.We get up to our room to find that we were given the wrong room. We had 4 adults and only one king size bed in this room. And it was not the suite that we were getting charged for we went down to the front desk and talked to the front desk where they informed us that they were fully booked. And that indeed was the one that we want reserved, and they didn’t have any other rooms to give us. After calling corporate customer service, we were able to confirm that we indeed booked a suite. Well, we’re gonna try to make this work. Could we at least get some extra blankets? And we also requested that they came up to the hotel room and removed the old, dirty linens and towels that were left in the room from the previous guests, so That we didn’t have to deal with them. We were told by the front desk that there was no housekeeping available, and that he thinks he had extra stuff, but if we wanted to bring the dirty linens down to the front desk, they could give us clean ones if they had any. This was literally a pile of dirty sheets and towels left in the corner of the room. We ended up talking to the front desk again, saying that we just wanted a refund and that we were going to leave and go somewhere else. They told us they couldn’t reimburse us just because we didn’t like the room. It was the wrong room and dirty. We ended up just leaving and we’re going to dispute their card charge. While trying to find availability @ another hotel we used the bathroom in this room and the toilet wouldn’t flush it just kept running. We had other family that were actually staying at this hotel as well and when they went get ready before the funeral to get into the shower and their shower knob literally fell off into the bathtub and they couldn’t shower. They had to walk across the street to the hotel that we ended up booking just to shower.
The place was in bad shape and needs updates to booths. Our server was eating and wandering and had to get him every time we needed anything. I brought a Director of Operations there. I will forever be the guy who makes bad dinner spot decisions.
The front desk lady was rude and you’d think that with all the attitude she would know how to spell, but you’d be wrong. I called to request some info before booking, needless to say I booked the hotel next door, where the front desk staff was delightful.
Wow…an absolute testamate of what Holiday Inn has become. I’m not even sure where to start! Completely rude service from start to finish! It’s clear from check in on we were NOT welcome! Barley got.enough attention at check to be checked in, but that was WAY better than we experienced later at the hotel bar/restaurant! Room was dated and dingy. There was empty soap containers that were moldy. We couldn’t call for more as the phone doesn’t work. Neither does the air really. The hotel bar is a nightclub with security sporting body Armor and poor attitudes. Will not be back!
This hotel was horrible. We planned a family reunion here months ago, months! When we arrived the door had a sign that said you could not use the water from 10am-4pm due to renovations. How is that not communicated ahead of time to a group that has had this planned for many months and a group that had booked a meeting room with stained linens and food utensils. The hallways of the hotel were extremely hot… complained to front desk and was told it was because the building was a glass building. I have been in several glass hotels and this has never been an issue….the dumbest thing that I have ever heard. The air conditioning did not work in several family members hotel rooms and it was 95 degrees outside. On the 4th floor a big plastic covering was on one of the walls where a huge hole was…the hotel smelled mildewy and musky. The hotel staff front desk and housekeeping attitudes were out of order. I will say this again we chose this hotel months ago and we were very disappointed! Lots of money spent and unsatisfied. I thought we were on a episode of survivor and we would get our money back after check out that was not the case….no reimbursements nothing for a horrible establishment. They need to be shut down immediately and complete their renovations and then reopen! UNACCEPTABLE will be calling corporate!
True fully it doesn’t deserve 1 star .It actually -8 stars . Myself and family stayed here for our Family reunion. The hotel has just switched over to new management so they were going through renovations. Some of family members showed up to the On Thursday June 20 2024 in the early afternoon. Once they showed up to the Hotel . They had an sign on the door stating that the would be no WATER from from 10 am to 4pm.So you couldn’t use the bathroom or shower. One of my family members complained to staff about the water being turned off and was told they didn’t know that the water was going to be off . Then the parking lot was being renovated. So parking was limited. The was areas of the hotel that was tape off due to renovations. One of my family members had to switch rooms due to the carpet being damped due to floating in the building. Multiple leaks through our the building. Hallways were super hot. We also complained about that . Then we told that it was an alot of glass windows and that’s why it was so hot. A few of my family members had to switch rooms due to there being no air conditioning in over 95 degrees weather outside.
I am a professional traveler of over 22 years now. I am an IHG Platinum Elite member. I am on the road every week. This hotel has many flaws, first off the smell of it is very old and musky. The carpet in my room has black dots and patches on the carpet(some form of something spilled very long ago) I was in room 338. I checked in on a Monday and checked out on a Friday and house keeping only came one time, that was a Tuesday evening. I never saw them again or any thing in my room replaced or bed made. When I told this to the front desk he had no response back to me. I asked for a late check out as I had work to finish up and wanted to get a shower prior to leaving. He said he could not accommodate me without any reasons why. I had to check out then a travel without freshening up. This hotel has absolutely nothing to offer me or my colleagues when it comes to making our life a bit more easy on the road. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I am not telling you not to stay here, just set your expectations extremely low. I myself am making it a point for my companies future travel her to stay clear of this hotel in Matteson IL PS there is a Hampton in close by. I will add comments to this post on its cleanliness and staff.
The atmosphere was nice. The location was great. It’s close to everything you need. Rooms were ok. They’re maybe a few steps away from motel vibes. They put a lot of money into the restaurant and the lobby, in my opinion. I reserved a room for 2, but it only had 1 luggage rack. The front desk person did take time to retrieve me another, but it was filthy. I didn’t even use it. Our fridge had previous occupants food in it. I’m not sure how long that was in, but it smelled pretty bad. It would not be my choice to stay but because of the occasion, that was where we all stayed. I would only recommend staying here if you’re on the road and simply need sleep overnight or have car trouble. I would recommend anyone to stop in during the night life and experience Bar Louie! The food is amazing, the drinks are flowing, the servers are full of life and energy & the DJ keeps the vibe top tier! I’ll come thru just for Bar Louie, honestly. Otherwise, I give the hotel a slim 3 outta 5. A little cleaner or update for the price would put it up a notch. The ballroom where the event took place was beautiful. The servers were respectful, efficient & professional. The bartender at the event was patient, warm & welcoming, and knowledgeable in her craft. I’d suggest the ballroom space as a good choice for sure.
Great romantic room, you really can’t beat it. Very clean and a lot of great amenities right in the room. I gave service a 1 rating because we called to inquire about how to turn the fireplace on. There were no switches or anything that we could find. The person was clueless (hint more training needed). Said they were contact someone else and call us back. That never happend. For $500+ a night i expect better. But overall we had a great stay.
We were very excited but as soon as we walked in there were alot of problems I was not impressed with the cleaning services we haven’t even put our bags down before notcing hair in the sink and the shower on top of that we didn’t get to experience everything since our hot tub was not working and when it was time to leave the door was jammed and we couldn’t get back out to our car we had to call the front desk for someone to come open the door. When we expressed our complaints to the front desk they were nice and apologetic but didn’t offer us anything for our dissatisfaction especially since we are repeat customers.
Sybaris is a great getaway and a great place to be. My only problem is Sybaris should be offering major discounts to those that always purchase the chalet suite. I purchase this suite all the time and NEVER get a discount for a next visit. Its SO wrong!!! I could see if i never purchase this suite but I purchase NOTHING BUT this suite and its not cheap. I also started to purchase 2 nights per visit….$1500 for 2 nights. I can go to Wisconsin Dells Mt Olympus for 5 days, 4 nights for only $600. You do the math!!!!! Sybaris…do better!!!! I deserve major discounts here n there. You cant keep the chalet suite FULL price!!!! Do u appreciate your LOYAL customers? I don’t feel that you do!!! Let me know!!!
We celebrated our 34th anniversary here, and it was well worth the wait! After years of hearing about it from friends and wanting to visit, we finally made it and it absolutely lived up to the hype! The experience was peaceful, rejuvenating, and left us feeling recharged and reignited. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
My now husband and I just got back from celebrating our honeymoon at this location. We got the Chalet suite for the week. This was the 3rd time we’ve stayed at this location but, the other times, we stayed in the Paradise Suite. Upon arrival, they had REAL rose petals on the bed, a gift set of body soap, lotion, candle, etc., along with robes for us to take home. They even had a congratulations balloon for us! Service was GREAT throughout our entire stay, as per usual. My husband and I were very much in our own little world for the week!! This area is great for anything you’d need also! From great places to eat, to shopping, etc. I can’t recommend this place enough! It’s amazing for a romantic weekend getaway, anniversary, or in our case, even a honeymoon!!
Such a great place!!! They do everything they can to make your special event even more special!!! We were able to get a swim room for a few hours in addition to our regular room and it was just cherry on top!! Thank you so much!!
I booked with Sybaris at the Frankfort location for 2 nights and requested the “paradise pool suite.” On the day of my reservation my girlfriend and I flew in all the way from DC to experience a romantic get away. I rented a car and drove a hour from the airport to arrive to our suite. We arrived at the location and checked in smoothly, everyone who worked in the office had good energy and vibes. We get checked in and due to us being tired from traveling and excited to reach our destination and relax we didn’t realize it until the next morning, but something was off.
On this location and I believe many other locations they only have a select few rooms that actually look as nice and up to date as the ones shown on the site. I contacted management asking was there anything I can do because the pictures on the website of what the room is supposed to look like is very misleading. Management then responds by letting me know next time I book with them that I should request an updated room if that’s what I wanted. But how should I know to request an updated room when that’s all the website promotes?
If I go online to pay top dollar for a specific pair of Jordan’s that I see being promoted and I’m sent a pair of adidas instead and the store tells me, “well you still got a shoe, just next time clarify you only want a jordan’s shoe and not just any shoe” how is that fair?” I paid money for what I saw being advertised. Nowhere on the website does it say you won’t be guaranteed an updated room.
Management eventually put me in an updated room on my second day of my stay. While the room was very nice on the second day I wish I could’ve experienced what I paid for on both days. The room also was supposed to come with champagne and I was told they ran out and were only serving wine.
I would return to stay here but I now know to request an updated room, which you shouldn’t have to.
Very clean and quiet stay. The massage chair in the room was awesome. Everything worked and the attention to detail was there. Walking distance from gas station.
There are NOT enough words to describe the experience I had with my Husband for his 50th birthday celebration! He loved every bit of it. My King say it was the BEST night of his LIFE. That was my goal and the help of the staff at the Sybaris in Frankfort made it happen! There was not one thing we needed was not provided. The suite was extra clean, exotic, and private. We will definitely be back for a local getaway!
This place is amazing! The location is quiet and peaceful. The room and the pool were clean. The pool temp was very comfortable. The hot tub attached to the pool is really nice. If you’re looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway, this is the place.
My husband and I went to the Sybaris for our 24th Anniversary. We had a beautiful and romantic time. I truly enjoyed the pool, hot tub, sauna room, wine, robes, spa, and fireplace. Every detail was thought about to make sure we had a lovely time. We brought snacks so there really wasn’t any reason to leave the room. We did go out to dinner. We will return!
Sybaris Hotel was all around amazing. I absolutely love when you go to a place and you don’t even worry about the money you spend. When I first booked, I booked for 2 nights and the pool suite was not available, so my husband and I accepted a whirlpool suite. When I tell you they set the room up nice, it took my breath away. The rose petals starting as soon as we step into our room to all over the bed. Champagne on ice in bucket along with 2 Champagne glasses and meat/cheese snack tray. Our romantic getaway that was much needed, had made us forget all about our problems thanks to the staff and the ambiance they set for us.
Here is the kicker though. The front desk personnel knew how bad we wanted a pool suite, the next morning we woke up and were headed out for the day, front desk called asked if we still wanted pool suite for remainder of our stay, I said yes. So excited, I began getting all our stuff preparing for the transfer; front desk said we will have housekeeping take care of the move for you. I will visit this place again and again and again and never worry about the money.
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this place would look exactly like the picture, but it DOES! It’s beautiful and quiet. The pool is warm and the sauna is, too! Not sure why Google called it a 2 star hotel. It’s easily 4.5!
This was truly a great experience! This was something big my girlfriend and I wanted to do for Valentines Day and it couldn’t have turned out better! The only problem was that the wifi wasn’t working so we couldn’t watch TV but that didn’t stop us from having lots of fun in the jacuzzi or steam room! The staff was also very friendly and welcoming and our room was very clean. We’ll definitely be coming back to try the pool suite next time
My husband took me here for my birthday as a surprise, and I absolutely loved it. We did the Paradise Suite and it was perfect. We have so much fun! The staff was so nice and welcoming and the rooms were gorgeous. It’s definitely perfect for a birthday or Anniversary gift. We will definitely be returning!
We had a great stay at Sybaris of frankfort. The staff was very welcoming and attentive with your needs, we even had to reschedule out stay and it was no issue to do so. Security on site, so you feel safe and secure even at night. (Not that its a bad area at all, its all farm fields) The room was spotless and felt cleaner than a 4 star Marriott hotel. You’re a short drive from shopping areas and fantastic restaurants. Pool was clean and warm, and the hot tub was relaxing and a perfect temperature once it gets going. Feels like you’ve stepped into your own oasis, private, relaxing, and a perfect romantic getaway for a little weekend honeymoon. We had a great time and i highly recommend this location. We will be back, or for sure visiting another Sybaris location in the future.
The staff is incredibly accommodating! They go above and beyond for the clients. We enjoyed our stay but the rooms just seem to give such a “motel” vibe. Despite showering every time after using the hot tub and pool, we still have super itchy skin.
