Authentic reviews of Boston hotels featuring in-room Jacuzzis and hot tubs
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Hotel staff entered my room and I had my money stolen. In just under an hour when I was at breakfast, $200 in cash was stolen from a bag I left in my room. Of course the door is locked and only hotel staff can enter the room. It is a small hotel and why I was targeted among other guests, At check-in they force you to pay $100, separate from the room charge. This is said at check-in, without prior notification from the hotel. The staff said it was a one-time payment in case the room was dirty and to be refunded upon check-out. I paid in cash, not credit card. The staff saw which bag I was taking cash out of. I told the other front desk staff at the hotel that my cash had been stolen. She told me that the rule is to never accept $100 deposit in cash. The hotel was clean and new and I felt completely safe and went to breakfast at the hotel cafe leaving the cash in my room. The front desk staff said they would inform the manager, who would check with housekeeping and contact me, but I never received an email. This hotel is indeed beautiful, but should be careful. The hotel is right in front of MIT and Google companies, and the hotel staff still steal guests’ cash in their rooms. I strongly recommend that you do not stay at this hotel.
Don’t use their irons. They ruin shirts. Asked the front desk agent for three days how they can help, was told they would talk to a manager and get back to me. Never heard anything back. Great hotel. Bad customer resolution by management.
If I had the choice I’d rate the Kendall 4.5. My king superior room was plenty spacious, comfortable and quiet. I took advantage of the ability to visit the Cambridge Athletic Club. The nightly happy hour is a nice touch but, then again, it’s the same two pours and roasted nuts every night. Ditto with breakfast, which as been mentioned in this space, becomes monotonous after a couple of days. Same everything from the choice of two teas, to the mini cranberry scones, to the scrambled eggs, etc. By my third morning I made other breakfast arrangements because I just couldn’t get excited about the bowl of muesli (no other cereal choices). The missing element was hospitality. The place feels very transactional. When I saw a staff member I never saw a smile or got a warm welcome. The hotel needs to work on that.
Had a great stay in a central location for our first trip to Boston. walked to the north end and to fenway which was good considering we ate too much. We chose this hotel because it was a converted firehouse and it had awesome artifacts and history. Maaark at the front desk was a great host. Free breakfast and wine tasting. Very clean and comfortable beds. We will stay here again.
Lovely hotel! The rooms are beautifully decorated, quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty for all. The history of the building is really neat, too. Parking lot underground is small, but you can’t beat $25 for a day! Will absolutely return!
Be cautious when booking with The Kendall hotel’s website. My experience with this hotel was disappointing. I made a non-refundable reservation in March for a summer vacation. The transaction didn’t go through immediately due to security concerns, so I received a message from Mastercard to confirm the transaction. I confirmed it right away, but the hotel didn’t charge my card until two weeks later, and with a significantly higher rate without notifying me.
When I contacted the hotel about the overcharge, they insisted on not refunding me and cited it as their policy. I find this policy unreasonable and not customer-friendly at all.
I suggest being careful when booking with this hotel, and if you encounter any issues with your reservation, be aware that their policy may not work in your favor.”
All-around a great experience for marathon weekend. Our room on second floor was quite quiet, and the staff was a perfect balance of helpful and invisible. Parking for $25 a day was a good deal. I’d absolutely recommend this to a friend.
Cute and comfortable hotel, ideally located next to MIT Sloan College of business. Nice breakfast and happy hour. They give you a pass to use a gym close by.
What a wonderful hotel! The staff are so welcoming and helpful. I had a jacuzzi in the bathroom and a lovely free breakfast every morning. They have guest passes for the Cambridge Athletic Center too. I highly recommend staying here!
Very charming boutique hotel. Large rooms. Cozy robes. Traditional furniture. Great breakfast buffet. You know you are not in an impersonal chain hotel. We will continue to return here.
Great fun. Staff fabulous. Really liked the rooms. Comfy bed. Fun decor and quiet. Breakfast a bit repetitive and calorific. Tasty initially but it turns out there is such a thing as too much bacon.
I can’t say enough about this place. Rooms were clean and comfy. The decor in the hotel was unique and very interesting (in a good way)! The staff were clearly willing to go out of their way to help with anything we needed. The hot breakfast was great and the location couldn’t be better—it’s less than 1/4 mile from the closest subway stop. So convenient!
The hotel is beautiful. The wine tasting is a joke. Small plastic cup with a cheap white and a cheap red wine then you’re cut off after being asked twice what my room number was. A little embarrassing. The room is warm, hopefully it will cool down.
I absolutely loved my time in Boston and a huge reason was my stay at Clarendon Square. The attention to detail and style was impressive! Stephen has thought of everything! I hope to definitely return in the future and wouldn’t think twice about staying at Clarendon Square!
Excellent place to stay in boston. Very central, very quiet, and very ncie hosts. The jacuzzi on the terrace is fabulous. I would definitely recommend and come back here.
A 4.5 star stay – Spent a night here in the city and it was such a beautiful getaway! The rooftop hot tub was magic, and the location is fantastic. The rooms are nice and big, comfortable and beautifully decorated. I loved the little glass photos of the owners & their dog – thought it added a nice touch of home to the property! Overall value wise, I’d rate this 4.5/5 stars. I think there is some slight room for improvement, but overall it’s a lovely place to stay if you don’t want a chain hotel.
My only ~slightly negative~ feedback….it has been years since I’ve stayed in any hotel/b&b/even airbnb that hasn’t provided 2 complimentary water bottles. They charge $4 per bottle (and $4 for a beer?) which IMO is a bit steep. And I wish they had a simpler and less wasteful coffee setup in the room. A modern Nespresso machine would have been much better and more efficient, than wasting an entire pack of coffee just for 1 cup.
There was also what looked to be a used coffee stirrer in one of the cups I grabbed, as well as a ripped sheet (photos posted). Not really a huge deal, but something to keep in mind for staff to check in the future.
This weekend marked my 5th time staying at Clarendon over the years! There’s simply nowhere like it in the city. The rooftop jacuzzi and its unreal views create an unmatched experience, the location on a charming street in the beautiful South End is wonderful with excellent restaurants nearby, and the brownstone setting is lovely with well-maintained and comfortable rooms to boot. Looking forward to our next stay already. Many thanks for a great visit!
Looking for an exquisitely appointed room on a quiet, beautiful street in Boston within steps of all that Back Bay has to offer? That’s exactly what we found in Clarendon Square B&B. Our host was exceedingly attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Every touch in the room, from fresh flowers to Molton Brown toiletries to down pillows, was designed to make us feel pampered and rested, even after a long day working or touring the city. Each detail reflected the love the owners have for their beautiful home and the interest they have in providing a great experience for their guests. We hope to stay there again when we return to Boston.
This is a beautiful property, very classy and with a lot of style. It’s located in quiet neighborhood. Stephen (our host) was very welcoming. Thank you for the little attentions, it was a real pleasure. The rooftop hot tub was great. Loved it and for sure we would stay there again. Would highly recommand Clarendon Square Inn.
We have just returned from a 6 night stay in Clarendon Square – this is one beautiful property! The bedrooms and lounge area (for guests to use) are beautifully styled and very classy. Stephen was an excellent, very welcoming host and was very helpful with providing recommendations for places to visit, restaurants to eat in etc. The rooftop hot tub was great. One of the things that really makes your stay here are the little touches including luxury toiletries, flowers and cookies. It is in a really nice part of town and not too far to walk into the main part of Boston. Would highly recommend Clarendon Square Inn.
We really enjoyed our stay at Clarendon Inn! My husband and I celebrated our twentieth anniversary in Boston and chose it because of the romance factor. It’s not a bed and breakfast, however, they do set out some snacks each day and offer a great coffee set up in your room. They also offer a good list of close-by food options. The room was beautiful! The hot tub was unforgettable! The host was really nice and knowledgeable. I would say if you have mobility issues this might not be the best for you as far as lots of steps.
